The Kansas Department of Transportation has begun a pavement patching project on U.S. 81 in Republic and Cloud counties.
Project work will occur on the southbound lanes of U.S. 81 from Union Road in Cloud County and continue north about 4.5 miles into Republic County.
During construction, southbound traffic will be reduced to one 14-foot lane at a reduced speed.
Emery Sapp & Sons Inc. and Subsidiaries, of Columbia, Missouri, is the prime contractor for this $1.1 million project, which is scheduled to be completed in July, weather permitting.
KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit www.kandrive.gov or call 5-1-1. For updates on highway projects in north central Kansas, visit https://www.ksdot.gov/bureaus/offTransInfo/NCNRelese.asp.
