The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the La Cygne Police Department are jointly investigating the tragic death of a 1-year-old child.
On September 11th, at approximately 5:00 PM, local authorities responded to a report of an unresponsive toddler at a residence in La Cygne. Emergency medical services provided immediate care, but the child was sadly pronounced deceased at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
A comprehensive autopsy was conducted on Friday, but the initial findings were inconclusive. Additional testing and the final autopsy report are pending. The investigation into the cause of death may ultimately determine whether it was a homicide, natural causes, or an accident.
