A two-vehicle accident on U.S. 36 highway in Marshall County claimed the life of one person and injured another on Wednesday morning.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred just east of West River Road around 11:45 AM.
According to the investigation, 23-year-old Emily Larson of Bremen was driving westbound in a Jeep Cherokee when it crossed the center line and collided with an eastbound Buick Enclave driven by 89-year-old Bernice Nietfeld of Marysville.
Larson was pronounced dead at the scene. Nietfeld was transported to a Lincoln, Nebraska hospital with serious injuries.
The Kansas Highway Patrol emphasized that neither driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
