A Manhattan man lost his life in a two-vehicle crash in Washington County on an early Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred when 46-year-old Brian Dowling, driving an eastbound pickup truck on U.S. 36 Highway, attempted to pass another vehicle and collided with an oncoming semi, about five miles east of Cuba.
Following the crash, Dowling was taken to Washington County Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The 71-year-old semi driver, Wayne Thomsen from Waterville, did not sustain any injuries in the collision. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that Dowling was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, while Thomsen was properly restrained.
