SCC Ag Student From Oketo Attends National Convention; Receives FFA Degree

Beatrice, NE (Nov. 5, 2020) – A number of Southeast Community College students from the Beatrice Campus attended the Virtual National FFA Convention and received an American Degree last week.

“For a student to earn the American Degree, members put in a lot of time and effort,” said Travis Pralle, SCC Ag Instructor. “The National FFA Organization has specific requirements for students to accomplish in order to be considered for this premier degree recognition. A few examples of those requirements include; outstanding leadership, community involvement and a passion for agriculture.”

Students received a certificate and the American FFA degree key in honor of their accomplishments. The following SCC students received the degree:

  • Connor Bartels, Tecumseh.
  • Rachel Buehler, Adams.
  • Kane Hasselbring, Fairbury.
  • Tanner Kauk, Alma.
  • Angela Prebyl, Oketo, KS.
  • Elle Schmaderer, Stuart.

Two Arrested After 41 Animals Rescued From Unsanitary Emporia Residence

Two individuals, Matthew and Sarah Carver, have been charged with animal cruelty and neglect after authorities rescued over 40 animals from their Emporia home. The animals, including 10 cats and 31 dogs, were found living in poor conditions. The investigation by local law enforcement is ongoing.
