Olathe Man Dead After Saturday Night Shooting, Suspect in Custody

A 21-year-old man, Landen Roggenkamp, was fatally shot in Olathe on March 29. Police arrested a 25-year-old suspect, Armando Javier Guerrero, who faces second-degree murder charges. Roggenkamp was taken to a hospital but did not survive. The investigation is ongoing, and information from the public is sought.

Olathe Man Sentenced to Prison for Sexually Assaulting Nursing Home Resident

Samuel Maniu Wambugu was sentenced to 208 months in prison for the rape and mistreatment of an 85-year-old nursing home resident in January 2021. The Johnson County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that he will also be mandated to register as a sex offender following his conviction.

Kansas Task Force Deployed to Assist Florida Hurricane Relief Efforts

Kansas Task Force 1, a swift water rescue team, was deployed to Florida on September 24th to assist with Hurricane Helene. Comprised of firefighters and personnel from various agencies, the team, activated under EMAC, will perform search and rescue operations, provide medical care, and support animal rescues, with costs reimbursed by Florida.
