Kansas legislators, governor release $35.7 million tied to public university adherence to DEI law

Gov. Laura Kelly and legislative leaders allocated $35.7 million to public higher education after universities complied with a law prohibiting diversity, equity, and inclusion policies from influencing hiring and admissions. The State Finance Council also supported $21.8 million for student financial aid and approved using state funds to pay off $5.5 million in bond debt.
