BARTON COUNTY – A statewide Silver Alert for a 77-year-old Great Bend man has been canceled after he was found safe on Tuesday night.
The Barton County Sheriff’s Office notified the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) that James R. Stevens was located in Kearny County. Officials confirmed he is unharmed.
Background of the Search
The alert was originally issued earlier on March 24 after Stevens was reported missing. Family and authorities were concerned for his safety as Stevens has dementia. He had last been seen Tuesday afternoon driving a white Toyota Tacoma.
The KBI and local law enforcement thanked the public for their vigilance and assistance in spreading the word, which led to the successful resolution of the search.
