Twin Valley League Basketball Tournament Ready to Tip Off at Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY – High school basketball fever is hitting North Central Kansas as the Twin Valley League (TVL) Tournament officially tips off this Saturday. Teams from across the region are descending on Washington County for a week of high-stakes competition, concluding with championship hardware on January 24.


Opening Round Matchups

The action begins Saturday morning with a slate of play-in games. While the top three seeds enjoy a first-round bye, the following teams will battle to keep their trophy hopes alive:

Girls’ Bracket:

  • 10:00 AM: (7) Clifton-Clyde vs. (10) Washington County
  • 10:00 AM: (8) Blue Valley vs. (9) Frankfort
  • 1:00 PM: (6) Axtell vs. (11) Onaga

Boys’ Bracket:

  • 11:30 AM: (7) Centralia vs. (10) Onaga
  • 11:30 AM: (8) Frankfort vs. (9) Washington County
  • 1:00 PM: (6) Blue Valley vs. (11) Valley Heights

The Road to the Finals

The heavy hitters enter the fray on Monday, January 19. Top-seeded Hanover, Linn, and Valley Heights (Girls) and Hanover, Axtell, and Doniphan West (Boys) will face off against Saturday’s victors starting at 3:15 PM.

The tournament schedule intensifies later in the week:

  • Thursday: Boys’ Semifinals at 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM.
  • Friday: Girls’ Semifinals at 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM.
  • Championship Saturday (Jan 24): Consolation rounds begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the Boys’ Championship at 4:00 PM and the Girls’ Championship at 5:30 PM.
