The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin a resurfacing project on U.S. 81 in Republic County on Monday, May 12.
The project will involve a hot in place surface recycle and chip seal on U.S. 81 from the Nebraska state line to approximately 3 miles north of U.S. 36, just south of Lincoln Road.
During construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane and motorists should expect minimal delays while travelling at a reduced speed.
Dustrol Inc., of Towanda, is the prime contractor for the $2.5 million project, which is scheduled to be completed in early July, weather permitting.
KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit kandrive.gov or call 5-1-1. Updates on highway projects in north central Kansas, are available at NewsReleases/District2- north central Kansas.
