Boy, 7, on Life Support Following Hotel Pool Incident in Wichita

Wichita, KS – A 7-year-old boy is fighting for his life after a near-drowning incident at a hotel pool in the 7300 block of East Kellogg late Thursday night. According to police, officers responded to a call just after 9:30 p.m. on May 1st regarding a reported drowning.

Officer Kris Gupilan of the Wichita Police Department stated that Sedgwick County EMS and the Wichita Fire Department arrived at the scene and immediately began administering life-saving measures to the child. The boy was then transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

A preliminary investigation suggests that the child was playing in the hotel pool when he went underwater and became unresponsive. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

An online fundraiser has been established to support the boy’s family during this difficult time. Details of the fundraiser were not immediately available.
