ELLIS COUNTY, KS – A statewide Silver Alert issued for 81-year-old Roger Batman has been canceled after he was located and confirmed safe, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Earlier, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) had issued the alert at the request of the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, seeking the public’s assistance in locating Batman, who had been missing since Monday evening.
Batman, who suffers from diminished cognitive abilities and high blood pressure, was last seen leaving his Hays home at approximately 5:00 p.m. He had told his wife he intended to travel to Wichita, but his actual direction and destination remained unknown at the time.
Authorities had described Batman as a white male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing around 180 pounds, with blue eyes and gray hair. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and black jeans, and was believed to be driving a silver 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup truck with Kansas license plate 9625ACG.
The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office thanked the public for their assistance in the search. No further details regarding where Batman was located or the circumstances surrounding his disappearance have been released at this time.
