WICHITA, KS – A 40-year-old Wichita woman, Moeshae Thomas, has died after being attacked by her family’s two pit bulls, authorities confirmed. The incident occurred Saturday afternoon at a residence in the 2900 block of West Murdock.
Wichita Police Department officers responded to a call reporting a dog bite at approximately 4:00 p.m. Upon arrival, first responders discovered Thomas suffering from severe injuries. Preliminary investigations revealed that the two pit bulls, owned by the family, were engaged in a fight inside the home. Thomas attempted to intervene and separate the animals when she was attacked.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported Thomas to a local hospital in extremely critical condition. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
The two pit bulls involved in the attack have been surrendered to Wichita Animal Services. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
