On the evening of October 15, 2024, a physical altercation between two inmates occurred within the Washington County Jail. Correctional officers intervened to quell the disturbance, and additional law enforcement personnel were called to the scene to assist.
During the incident, an inmate identified as Christopher Wright became combative and assaulted multiple correctional officers and deputies. The inmate was eventually restrained and placed in solitary confinement.
Deputy Sheriff Jarik Weiche sustained minor injuries, including a stab wound to the face, and was treated at a local hospital. He has since been released and returned to duty.
Washington County EMS responded to the jail and evaluated Wright, resulting in him being taken to the hospital for further treatment. A full investigation into the incident is pending, and additional charges will be forwarded on to the Washington County Attorney for review.
