BUTLER COUNTY – Two juveniles were arrested in connection to a September 2023 homicide in Augusta.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), the Augusta Department of Public Safety, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigated the murder of 93-year-old Joanne R. Johnson. On the afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 15, two 14-year-old female subjects from Augusta were arrested for first-degree murder connected to Johnson’s death.
The teens are being held at separate juvenile detention centers. Formal charges are pending.
The investigation is ongoing.
