Victim identified in Pawnee County homicide investigation

PAWNEE COUNTY – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office are conducting a homicide investigation after a weekend shooting in Pawnee County. 

On Saturday, March 30, around 5 p.m., Dr. Tomas Garza, 52, of Larned, was shot multiple times during an argument with Michael Reynolds, 67, of Larned. The shooting occurred at 1219 Kansas Highway 19 South, in rural Pawnee County. Garza was transported to an area hospital but died of his injuries.

Reynolds was arrested at the scene for second-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into the Pawnee County Jail. Formal charges are pending.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation is ongoing.
