Jordan Westburg’s two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning propelled the Baltimore Orioles to a 6-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Monday night. The tiebreaking home run came on an 0-2 pitch from Nick Anderson after the Royals managed to even the score in the top of the inning.
Ryan Mountcastle contributed to the Orioles’ offensive effort with a home run and three RBIs. On the other side, Bobby Witt Jr. and Salvador Perez homered for the Royals, marking the second consecutive game in which both players hit home runs.
The game saw several lead changes and key plays, including an RBI infield single by Mountcastle in the eighth inning. The victory was sealed by closer Craig Kimbrel in his Baltimore debut, despite a late rally by the Royals. The Orioles will look to continue their success against the Royals in the upcoming game, with Cole Irvin set to start on the mound. First pitch is set for 5:35 p.m. Tuesday in Baltimore.
