The Riley County Communications Center received several 911 calls around 1:47 PM on March 3, 2024, reporting shots fired in the 1400 block of Flint Hills Pl. in Manhattan.
Riley County Police Officers and an officer from the Kansas Highway Patrol responded to the scene and found a male victim, age 53, with two gunshot wounds, one to the right arm and the other to the right leg.
The victim was transported via ambulance to Via Christi and was later transferred to a larger hospital. There are no further updates on his condition at this time.
Officers were able to set up a parameter and canvas the area for the suspect. The neighborhood was cleared of police activity around 7:17 PM. The suspect remains at large but we do not believe him to be a threat to the community at this time.
