MITCHELL COUNTY, Kan. — An 81-year-old Cawker City woman sustained serious injuries after being struck by a car Saturday afternoon in Mitchell County.
The accident occurred just before 1:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Wisconsin Street in Cawker City, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP).
A 2006 Chevy Malibu, driven by Dustin K. West, 31, of Cawker City, was traveling eastbound when it struck pedestrian Linda B. Clover, 81, also of Cawker City. The KHP reported that Clover stepped into the roadway from the south curb.
EMS transported Clover to Mitchell County Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver, West, was properly restrained and was not injured in the incident.
