OSAGE COUNTY, KS – A 69-year-old Wichita man was killed Sunday night in a single-vehicle motorcycle accident on the Kansas Turnpike in Osage County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Christian Kaufman was riding a 2016 Harley Davidson southbound on Interstate 335 just south of the Shawnee County line shortly after 7:30 p.m. The motorcycle reportedly veered off the road to the right.
Kaufman then overcorrected, bringing the motorcycle back onto the Turnpike, at which point the vehicle overturned. The motorcycle skidded off the road to the right again, striking a delineator post and a grassy ditch before rolling. Kaufman was ejected from the motorcycle, which continued to roll and subsequently caught fire.
Kaufman was pronounced dead at the scene. The KHP confirmed he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. His body was transported to First Call.
