Seth Lugo Dominates Yankees, Royals Clinch 100th RBI For Perez

In a stellar performance, Seth Lugo struck out 10 batters in seven innings, leading the Kansas City Royals to a 5-0 victory over the New York Yankees on Tuesday night. Salvador Perez, reaching 100 RBIs for the second time, contributed two crucial RBI singles.

Returning to New York for the first time since his stint with the Mets, Lugo showcased his dominance. Tommy Pham’s home run and Bobby Witt Jr.’s RBI single further solidified the Royals’ lead in the AL Central.

Despite Baltimore’s victory over Boston, the Yankees’ lead in the AL East was reduced to a half-game. In a potential postseason matchup, Lugo’s masterful pitching shut down the powerful Yankees lineup, allowing only three singles and striking out 10.

The Royals’ bullpen, led by Kris Bubic and John Schreiber, completed the three-hitter, securing Kansas City’s first shutout against the Yankees since 2015. Lugo’s 16 wins tied him with Chris Sale and Tarik Skubal for the most in the majors.

With his performance, Lugo outshone former teammate Marcus Stroman, who allowed three runs in 5 1/3 innings. Kyle Isbel’s leadoff singles and subsequent scoring runs contributed to the Royals’ victory, snapping their six-game road losing streak.

The Kansas City Royals seek to clinch a series victory over the New York Yankees on Wednesday evening. Cole Ragans (11-9, 3.33 ERA) will take the mound against Luis Gil (13-6, 3.24 ERA) at Yankee Stadium.

Pregame coverage begins at 5:30 PM on SuperStar Country 102.5 & 1530 AM, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 PM.
