Kansas Volleyball Association Holds All-Star Game Saturday

The Kansas Volleyball Association held its 38th annual All-Star Match on June 1 at Washburn University in Topeka. The Red Team defeated the Blue Team in five sets by the score of four sets to one.

The Red Team was led in kills by Seenane Brewer of Lawrence High School and Kaitlyn Burke of Mill Valley High School each with 9, with Nina Mitchell of Wichita Northwest High School and Emery Keebaugh of Ottawa High School adding 8 kills each. Mylie Brown of Beloit High School and Mia Fox of Circle High School had 6 kills apiece.

Taylin Stallbaumer of Seaman High School led the Red Team in assists with 44.

Defensively, the Red Team was led by Riley Ourth of Olathe West High School with 26 digs, with Stallbaumer recording 19 and Keebaugh 13. Mia Fox of Circle High School led the Red Team in blocks with two. Hope Duncan of Smoky Valley High School led the Red Team in aces with four, while Keebaugh served three, and Ourth and Brewer each had two.

Leading the Blue Team in kills was Jacqueline Corcoran of Circle High School with 13, Tatum Tindall of Manhattan High School and Alex Bittner of Cheney High School with 7 each, and Carly Koster of Maize South recording 6 kills. Jordyn Bird of Maize High School led the Blue Team with 18 assists, followed by Camryn Hutchinson of Smith Center High School and Alexandrya Romero of McPherson High School with five assists each. Cora Miller of Holton High School had 26 digs, with Bittner adding 19, Corcoran 17, and Bird 11. Aubrey Olander of Little River High School led the Blue Team with four blocks, and Carly Koster of Maize South High School contributed three. Leaders in aces for the Blue Team were Bird and Alaina Eck of Little River High School, both recording three aces.

The KVA also presented four of its annual awards at the conclusion of the match. Taylin Stallbaumer of Seaman High School received the Joan Lundstrom Wells Award of Excellence. The Flo Hyman Scholarship was awarded to Mia Fox of Circle High School.

Manhattan High School’s Tatum Tindall received the Judy Bellomo Most Inspirational Award. The Don Bechard Memorial Award was presented to Alex Bittner of Cheney High School.
