Marysville Baseball & Softball Teams Head To 3A State; Valley Heights Softball Falls In Semifinals

Marysville girls’ softball heads to state, with a 1-0-win Thursday over top seed Sabetha, and a 3-0 victory in the semifinals versus Riley County. Marysville Monday took Atchison County Community High School to advance, and the Lady Bulldogs are 15-10 heading into state tournament play at Topeka next Thursday/Friday.

Valley Heights debut softball season ended in a 5-2 loss to top seed Onaga in the semifinals at Alma-Wabaunsee Thursday. Heights finishes 13-9, while Onaga takes Mission Valley in the championship 3-2.

Pairings released Friday for the state softball and baseball and both Marysville teams open play next Thursday, 11 am. Both are number 8 seeds, and the baseball team faces Trinity Academy of Wichita 20-4, while the softball team takes on undefeated Holcomb.
