KBI Announces Two Additional Arrests Made In Independence Homicide

ST. LOUIS – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Independence Police Department secured two additional arrest warrants for murder based on an investigation into the October 2023 shooting death of Jason York in Independence, Kansas. In late February, three other men were arrested in St. Louis connected to the murder, so a total of five suspects are now in custody.

The U.S. Marshals Service and the St. Louis County Police Department fugitive task force arrested Joshua B. Denton, 21, of St. Louis, and Kayvion D. Williams, 18, of St. Louis.

Both men were arrested on March 14, at around 10:35 a.m. at 10417 Count Dr. in St. Louis, Missouri, on warrants for first-degree murder and aggravated robbery.

The suspects were then booked into the St. Louis County Jail. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Extradition is expected.

The three men previously arrested are still being held in the St. Louis County Jail. The investigation is ongoing. The Montgomery County Attorney’s Office is expected to prosecute the case.
