President Joe Biden has approved a federal disaster declaration for Kansas following severe storms that caused damage from June 26 to July 7, 2024. Governor Laura Kelly expressed gratitude, stating federal funds will support restoration efforts. The declaration enables funding for infrastructure repairs and activates the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program across the state.

President Biden declared a major disaster in Kansas, enabling Federal aid for recovery and response efforts at various government levels and non-profit organizations. This funding will aid emergency response and facility repairs in numerous affected counties. Hazard mitigation funds will also be available statewide. FEMA's Andrew P. Meyer will supervise Federal recovery operations.

Kansas Republicans have condemned a fundraiser where attendees paid to kick and beat an effigy of President Joe Biden. The event featured Ted Nugent and former Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline, and video footage showed people engaging in violent acts against the effigy. Republicans, including former GOP chairman Mike Kuckelman, have called for the resignations of party leaders involved in the event. Others, including Senate Minority Leader Dinah Sykes, have also criticized the behavior, emphasizing the need for Republican leadership to condemn such actions.
