Beginning by Thursday, August 8, the Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin a surface recycle and chip seal on the southbound lanes of U.S. 81 in Cloud County.
Work on the southbound lanes of U.S. 81 will occur from about 5 miles north of the Ottawa/Cloud County line and continue north about 7.5 miles.
During construction, traffic will be reduced to one 14-foot lane at a reduced speed. Motorists should expect minimal delays.
Dustrol, Inc., of Towanda is the prime contractor for this $1.35 million project which is scheduled for completion in early September, weather permitting.
KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. To stay aware of all road construction projects across Kansas, go to http://www.kandrive.gov or call 5-1-1.
