However, it was in the seventh inning that Kansas City truly broke the game open, scoring eight runs.
Velázquez played a crucial role in the early stages of the game, driving in the first two runs with a single and a homer. Pitcher Seth Lugo, in his first win with the Royals, delivered an impressive performance, allowing only one run and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings. The Royals’ starters have been consistently performing well, boasting an impressive 1.43 ERA.
In the sixth inning, Lugo gave up a run, ending the Royals’ scoreless streak of 25 innings. However, he managed to escape further damage with the help of Renfroe’s throw to home plate. MJ Melendez sealed the victory with his first home run of the season, a two-run shot.
