The Kansas City Current have appointed Vlatko Andonovski as the club’s Head Coach and Sporting Director. Andonovski will be formally introduced at a press conference this morning. The press conference will be live streamed on the KC Current App and the KC Current YouTube page.

His football acumen and his penchant for developing talent will keep this teamcompetitive on the world stage and make Kansas City a destination club for players across the world.”
For the past four years, Andonovski has led the U.S. Women’s National Team. While at the helm he accumulated a record of 51-5-9. He led the team to the Concacaf W Championship in 2022, a Bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and four straight championships at the SheBelieves Cup (2020-2023).
A relatively unknown coach in 2013, Andonovski was named the first head coach of FC Kansas City. Since that time, he has become one of the most successful and recognized coaches around the world. With a record of 78-50-52 across all competitions, Andonovski is one of only five coaches to have presided over 150 or more games and one of two coaches with multiple NWSL Championship titles to his resumé.
He spent five seasons with FC Kansas City (2013-2017) and two with Reign FC (2018-2019). He was named NWSL Coach of the Year in 2013 and 2019 and is the only coach to achieve that honor with more than one club. Across seven seasons in the NWSL he took his team to the playoffs five times and won back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015.
Now, Andonovski returns to the city he calls home to coach the Kansas City Current. A team that, like him, strives to be the best in the world.

I am grateful to Angie, Chris, Brittany and Patrick for this opportunity to lead my hometown team. The fans here have always been passionate, and it has been so exciting to see them grow and make Kansas City one of the best atmospheres in the NWSL, and it will only get better in the new stadium.”
Andonovski’s experience also includes coaching the indoor Missouri Comets, leading the team to the Major Indoor Soccer League title in 2014 and an undefeated 20-0 season in 2015. He came to the United States in 2000 to playprofessional indoor soccer, mainly with the Wichita Wings and Kansas City Comets, but prior to that he played six seasons in his native country of North Macedonia.
He holds a U.S. Soccer Pro License, a United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping License and United Soccer Coaches Premier License. He earned his undergraduate degree locally at Park University and earned a master’s degree in Coaching Education from Ohio University in 2018. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Sports Leadership at Concordia University in Chicago. Andonovski lives in Kansas City, Missouri with his wife Bijana and children Luka (17) and Daria (11). His eldest daughter Dragana recently graduated from Park University and also lives in the Kansas City area.
