Kansans are urged to prepare for severe weather by participating in a statewide tornado drill on March 4, coinciding with Severe Weather Awareness Week. This drill, beginning at 10:00 a.m. CST, will emphasize practice of safety plans, including identifying safe spots, stocking emergency kits, and establishing reliable warning systems.

Severe thunderstorms are expected to move west to east across northeast and east central Kansas today, with the greatest risk occurring between 4 and 10 pm. Damaging winds are the primary concern, but strong tornadoes may also develop. Residents should remain vigilant and prepared for severe weather.
