SUMMARY:Rockin’ in the Days of Confusion
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Nights\n6:00-7:00 PM \nIn the early 1970s\, a generation raised on the upheaval of the 1960s found itself in a moment of cultural and musical uncertainty. With the Beatles broken up\, rock icons lost\, the Vietnam War over\, and social movements expanding beyond their original focus\, the sense of unity that once defined youth culture began to fragment. Music mirrored that shift\, branching into heavy metal\, electronic rock\, fusion\, and art-rock as musicians drew from jazz\, classical\, and R&B influences. Out of this moment emerged progressive rock radio on FM\, where DJs—motivated more by passion than profit—favored artistic freedom over commercial concerns\, adopting a laid-back style that let the music breathe. Though the format was eventually overtaken by more commercial album-oriented rock as FM radio grew profitable\, its golden age from roughly 1968 to 1976 produced an extraordinary body of adventurous music. Rockin’ in the Days of Confusion aims to bring that era—and its spirit—back into focus.
