Local Events Return Following Year Of Cancellations Due To COVID-19

After a year of covid related shutdowns, where many local events were suspended, it appears that 2021 events are again being considered, and at least tentatively scheduled. Recent retail promotions in several communities have been well received, and local merchants are noticing increases in business and traffic.

May kicks off with the return of the Whiteway Car Run Saturday the 1st, with starting points in Atchison and Concordia converging on a stop in Frankfort. Marysville Chamber/Main Street has announced that the Mother’s Day market will return this spring.

The Big Kansas Road Trip which includes Nemaha, Brown, and Doniphan counties was postponed from last year, is May 6-9th.

The Washington County Rodeo will return June 11-12th, along with Hanover Days of ‘49 June 25-26th.

Summer events include Blue Rapids 150 + 1 celebration July 2-4th, the rescheduled Beach Boys concert July 31st at Alcove Spring, and the Marshall County Fair has announced that the carnival will return this year.

Another big fall event recently announced, was the return of the Boss Nationals to Marysville in September, as well as the Traveling Wall Vietnam exhibit rescheduled this fall in Marysville.
