Early Morning Fire Destroys Rural Pottawatomie County Home

Four members of a rural Pottawatomie County home fled to safety after a fire broke out early Tuesday morning.

Fire crews responded to the structure fire, which was reported shortly after 3 a.m. on Spring Creek Road north of Westmoreland. The home is a total loss due to extensive damage. Fire Supervisor Jared Barnes says the cause is still under investigation, but the home did have working smoke detectors. No injuries were reported, and the family’s pets were reported safe as well.

Westmoreland, Oldsburg and Wheaton fire all crews responded, along with the Red Cross.
