Norton Co Board of Commissioners

Commissioner Charles Posson called the meeting of the Norton Co Board of Commissioners to order at 9:00 AM on June 18, 2018 at the Commission Room. Attendance: Richard Thompson, Present: Charles Posson, Present: Thomas Brannan, Present.
June 11th Minutes
A motion was made by Commissioner Thompson to approve the minutes from June 11th, 2018. The motion was given a second from Commissioner Brannan. Motion passed 3-0.
Sheriff Department
A motion was made by Commissioner Brannan to go into executive session at9:30 am for a period of20 minutes for the purpose of contract negotiations and to include Sheriff Thomson and County Clerk Robert
D. Wyatt. The motion was given a second by Commissioner Thompson. Motion passed 3-0. The commission returned to regular session at 9:50 am with no action taken as a result of the executive session.
County Counselor
County Counselor R. Douglas Sebelius joined the meeting.
Solid Waste
Brian Smith, Norton County Solid Waste reported to the commission with a quote for top coat material The county purchases the top coat for spraying on the municipal waste to control blowing trash. Brian informed the commission that he is needing to order more material and has obtained a quote. The top coat use to be made in Kansas but the plant has now closed and will need to be ordered from another firm. The purchase price has also went up from $1195 per bag to $16.95 plus the trucking fees.
Adjournment
There being no further business before the Board the meeting was adjourned until 6/25/2018. The commission minutes are not considered official until signed and approved by the commission and will remain a working document until approved.
