Fatality Accident Reported Saturday In Rural Marshall County

A fatality accident occurred Saturday morning in northern Marshall County.

According to a highway patrol report, Tyler Vanwinkle, age 25, of Steinauer, Neb. Was traveling westbound on Cherokee Road at the junction of U.S. Highway 77, approximately 8 miles north of Marysville, when his Dodge truck drifted off the south end of the road, and struck a guardrail. The truck rolled and came to rest upside down on the west side of a creek.

The accident occurred just before 7 a.m. and Vanwinkle was taken to Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville where he later died.

In 2021 he moved to Audacy, formerly known as Entercom Communications, Inc. and 106.5 The Wolf and 610 Sports Radio, the new flagship stations of the Kansas City Chiefs Radio Network, the largest radio network in the NFL. Through all of this, Derek continues to serve as the Digital Media Director for Sunflower State Radio, the digital and social media operations of Dierking Communications, Inc. and the 6 radio stations it owns and operates across Kansas.
