Osborne Woman Killed In Single Vehicle Crash

An Osborne woman died in an accident just before 2:30p.m. on Saturday in Wabaunsee County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2011 Chevy Traverse driven by Richard McDaneld, of Osborne, was westbound on Interstate 70 one mile east of Wabaunsee Road.

The vehicle exited the roadway to the right, entered the north ditch, drove up an embankment, and flipped onto its top.

Passenger Rita Eileen McDaneld, age 59 of Osborne, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Richard McDaneld was transported to the hospital in Manhattan. Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.

In 2021 he moved to Audacy, formerly known as Entercom Communications, Inc. and 106.5 The Wolf and 610 Sports Radio, the new flagship stations of the Kansas City Chiefs Radio Network, the largest radio network in the NFL. Through all of this, Derek continues to serve as the Digital Media Director for Sunflower State Radio, the digital and social media operations of Dierking Communications, Inc. and the 6 radio stations it owns and operates across Kansas.
