Washington County Commission Meeting Minutes – 7/17/17

The Board of Washington County Commission met in regular session on Monday July 17, 2017 in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse. Members present: Tim Mueller, 1st District Commissioner, David Willbrant, 2nd District Commissioner, Gary Ouellette, 3rd District Commissioner, and Diana Svanda, County Clerk to record minutes.

Consent Agenda items:
Payroll & Bills Totaling $222,136.73
Water Pollution Control Permit

David Willbrant made the motion to approve the consent agenda, Gary Ouellette seconded the motion, all in favor, motion carried.

David Willbrant reported he talked to Judge Kim Cudney and Dave White about internet fiber internet service. David also reported he stop and looked at state line road and there is need for service on the road.

Tim Mueller reported he went and viewed building, with Insurance adjuster Shawn Hearld.

Farmington Township Board, Jr. Roop and Mickey Walter, Franklin Township Board Rick Samland, and Highland Township Board met to appoint Cemetery 14 & 15 Board members, names suggested were Mike Clay, Rick Samland, and David Andrews. David Willbrant moved to accepted the nominations to fill the boards of Cemetery 14 & 15, Gary Ouellette seconded the motion, all in favor, motion carried. Rick Samland wanted to know who was responsible for filling of holes, taking out trees, fixing fence and maintaining access roads. Tim Mueller said he would contact KAC and let him know.

Cynthia Scheer, Washington County News, said that she is doing a story on the Commissioners process for hiring a new county appraiser, Tim explained the process for this.

Justin Novak, Road & Bridge Supervisor and Justin Dragastin, Dragastin Ins. Talked to the commissioners about the buildings and equipment Insurance policy at Road & Bridge. Justin Novak, reported they are patching and filing on roads, work on the Bremen Road will began this week. Also the dugout road near Hanover should be done tomorrow, and starting the week of July 24 patching on the Clifton oil road will begin, also from Gypsum Road between 25 & 26 road will be closed for cleaning of ditches.

Gloria Moore, Tourism Director, brought in re-appointments of the Guest Tax Board. The board will include, B.J. Smart – Washington, Keyna Steinbrock – Clifton, Ray and Barbara Buck – Hanover, Kathy Fritz – Washington, Dee and Harry Metz – Washington, Deb Swoboda – Washington, Lori Dieckman – Linn, Gloria Moore – Barnes.
Gary Ouellette made the motion to accept the nominations that were presented, David Willbrant seconded the motion, all in favor, motion carried.

Bev Finlayson, Interim Appraiser – met with the board about the office duties.

Rachelle Standley was in for a Washington County Appraiser Interview, David Willbrant made the motion to go into Executive session under non-elected personnel from 10:15 AM to 11:00 AM, Gary Ouellette seconded the motion, all in favor, motion carried.

Commissioners adjourned at 11:23 AM and will return at 12:15 PM for the next interview.

Commissioners received a phone call, that there next interview would not be coming, so they adjourned at 12:20 PM.

Next regular meeting will be July 24, 2017

In 2021 he moved to Audacy, formerly known as Entercom Communications, Inc. and 106.5 The Wolf and 610 Sports Radio, the new flagship stations of the Kansas City Chiefs Radio Network, the largest radio network in the NFL. Through all of this, Derek continues to serve as the Digital Media Director for Sunflower State Radio, the digital and social media operations of Dierking Communications, Inc. and the 6 radio stations it owns and operates across Kansas.
